Artist Statement Eunice Chumaceiro
Technically use a style of oil painting on canvas board which first
indigenous techniques typical of my country known as the Peasant embroidery
which the use of modified stamens, wires and in some cases created by me as and
modified some of the typical Guajiras needles. This is to obtain a greater
relief embroidery when creating a greater visual and aesthetic impact. Then
paint the stories or graphite drawings conducted in the forms of origami or
paper folding from the perspectives of the role would double. And finally the
rest of the work which I perform with brightly colored acrylic and oil
paintings.
Strong believer that we all possess a past in which we often gives way
to our present both physically and spiritually. That is why the use of origami
or origami. Is how to capture the history, desires, longings, science in a role
that takes the shape of things to which I play. Writing in these past events,
logs, boats, planes airplanes, boats, antique posters, portraits in general is
not limited to use those folds which are examples of folds that gives us life
halo over it.
The figures I use is the concept that are joined to one another bone
that butterflies are attached to the memories, the past because it is said that
where there is a butterfly memories in the air like hummingbirds who are eager
by the nectar of love, give them flowers, life in general these symbols like
many others I use are also linked to indigenous cultures which merged and
re-codified much of the actual symbols that surround us today.
This shows that my style is Naif allowing me a great opportunity to
design in my work and which allows me to always be connected to the ingenuity
along with the hidden knowledge of the symbols I want to capture
That is my work that is who I am
